Cleaning pinions
Before cleaning the Z Head or Lower X Beam pinions, inspect the wheels for any damage such as splitting or any large marks or dents. If you have any broken wheels then you may need to replace them using the Wheel Replacement Kit.
You don’t need to replace the pinions - these will just need cleaning, along with the racks and wheel tracks. Click here for racks and wheel tracks cleaning.
Clean both side pinions with a toothbrush or a paper towel and pay special attention to swarf sticking into the teeths of the pinions. If there are stubborn deposits of grease or swarf on the pinions then you can use something like IPA.
|
Be careful not to get any IPA on the wheels or any acrylic plates on the machine as this can damage them and cause cracks.
