Motor Temperature

This article explains how the SmartBench X,Y and Z motors work and how to be safe around them

There are a few things that may cause motors to get warm:

  • High ambient temperature
  • Quick feed rate settings
  • Leaving the machine on
The stepper motors are engaged and in use the whole time SmartBench is turned on, this is to hold its position and prevent someone from moving the machine around accidently

All five SmartBench motors have their own aluminum heatsink, the motors will not overheat.

Care is to be taken around these motors from a safety perspective, do not touch or hold onto these motors when the machine is turned on and warm.
